Castrol/Valvoline oil and Union Sangyo filters.

On the Civic I used Valvoline 5W30 and NAPA Gold filter.

On my Cavalier I use Castrol SYNTEC 5W30 and Purolator PureONE filter.

And no, I'm on my third set of SYNTEC and I haven't blown any engine yet.

 

I use Royal Purple and PureOne filter there is something manly about pouring purple oil into your engine....

 

In my '04 LX I use:

Oil: Whatever 5W20 Dino Juice AutoZone/Advance/WallyWorld has on special. The choices are somewhat limited since this is not a very common grade.

Filter: Prefer Purolator PureONE. Have used Fram ToughGuard and Bosch Premium as well but only if Purol. not available.

Change every 5k miles or 6 months as per owner's guide. The days of the 3k miles oil change are long gone.

Now about Honda's placement of the filter...
