Default 88 Civic Power Upgrade?

I just purchased 88 Civic DX with 1.5 and asking for ideas on what is the best way to generate HP out of this engine outside of B16 swap. Previously had a 93 Escort GT and hated honda's until I bought this car now I love them and especially this car. Now Im thinking of all that money and time I poured into my Scort. Anyhow I have a budget of $700.00 and was thinking pulley, header and converting to EFI and catback if any funds are left.

Headswap and MPFI conversion, intake, and catback. You shold be able to do that with $700 and quality parts.

Well, it's not a matter of converting it to EFI; it already has it. You will just be taking the current Dual Point Fuel Injection (DPFI) with two aerator injectors injecting into a universal throttle body, and adding some wiring, etc. to accomodate Multi Point Fuel Injection (MPFI), which is one dedicated injector per cylinder. I can give you instructions if you want, but they are long, so I didn't want to post them straight up... If you want me to, I will though. I think www.4thgenerationcivic.com has a lot of that kind of info.

Great information and that website is awesome as well. I bought a cold air intake first off for this car and noticed minimal at best results and from having a better understanding of how this dual point system works I see why no power increase has been made. NOTE to all civic owners DO NOT BUY those cheap 9.95 intakes off of ebay unless you like making charitable donations to the Man. The bends in tubing are horrible and filter is garbage. Save your money and do it right. I should have know better. Anyhow I have went out and got a MPFI off a CRX and will follow up next week with results.

Well, you're going to want to do the head swap too, not just the manny.
