Hey cyber. Thanks for helping me. I would say it is NOT a knocking sound, however i was backing up today and it sounded like i was driving a Chevy camaro 1994 or something. That's the kind of on and off noise i get. The car has a lot of power, but it sounds like that.... what do you think?

If it sounds like a camaro, it might be something with the exhaust then. I dont know just throwing out ideas.

So does this sound disappear or not once it warms up?

Hey Remmy... The noise comes and goes. During my short trip to the grocery store on Sunday, it did. It stopped after the car was warmed up. On Monday, the car did it too as soon as i left home (even though i pre-warmed it a few minutes). Today Tuesday, the car did it again. I changed the oil and it still did it. It sounded ugly to be honest. I'm worried...

Thanks for your help...

Well, i think the noise comes from the engine. You can hear it increasing or decreasing depending on the acceleration of the vehicle. I think once i'm on 4th or 5th gear, the car does NOT do it... Is it safe to drive it like that?

Default Does a K&N air filter makes your car use more gas?

I know a K&N filter (a regular filter, not the cold air intake) increases your HP. Now, does this mean that you'll be spending more on gas? I'm getting good 400+ miles a tank with my new Honda Civic 2002 EX. If it's the same, will it be better to get a cold air intake? I'm worried more about saving on gas than getting a few more HP's really...

Thank you!

I'm not saying its this, but my car exhibited the EXACT same symptoms and my exhaust manifold was cracked

It could be buddy... that's probably why it sounds like that, right? You could be right. I have noticed burned oil smell when i'm already stopped. I know there's NO leaks whatsoever, and i clean everything everytime i do an oil change. I know it's not that. Could this be it???

Thank you!

cold air intake will save you more on gas (as long as you stay off the throttle, yeah its harder to do it than it sounds))
