How much is the spoon tranny? Jw.

Also, I still don't see why you wouldn't go with a vtec head. http://forums.evans-tuning.com/viewt...&highlight=d16

This guy was trying to build a Y7. Although the pic's gone now (I've seen it before), the guy in the last post was right. The non vtec just couldn't carry torque past 5500. Aftermarket valvetrain parts are going to be similarly priced anyway. So I see no reason not to go vtec. Also, contrary to what that guy posted in that last post, I'd recommend the Z6 head over the Y8 for boost applications.

see your point there.. but z6 i would have to revert.. i would go for b18 or b16 that way i can keep my emissions.. obd2 .. just curious what you think about the SiR III on http://www.sunrisejdmmotors.com/honda.php .. why is this only 2k???? seems way cheap for HP vs the B18c1 prices ive been seeing,, they run 1k more... and spoon transmission i found on http://www.gearspeedinc.com/home.htm 1200 bucks... but if that SiR on sunrise is everything i need to be on my way to B16.. minus near Intake ,, then might be worth it,, since its as much as rebuild will probly be
.. Feel free to give input

Pricing type r on several other for b16a that fits my EK and near 4k.. so not sure why its half still on Sunrise site

I wasn't aware spoon made any for d-series engines, but that's cool. 1200's not bad. A Y8 + Quaife LSD would run about that.

The b-series are alright. I'm just really a d-series fan. I'm really not an expert on ecus, obds, or wiring of any kind, to be honest. But I've caught the words "conversion harness" floating around. It seems popular to use one to convert obd2 to 1. I'm not sure if a harness is made for the other way around though. I'm also not sure if you could use the Z6 head with a Y8 ecu. I'm also not sure how the AEM EMS would fit into everything. But if you could make it work, a turbo Z6 is comparitively a bargain.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Let us know what you come up with.

No problem... hoping someone else might see the link on sunrise who has purchased or looked into this setup.. Thanks for your input though.. helping me make better decision.. but still if im going with swap ,, think i deff.. wanna stay away from MINI me type swap and just go full out B18C1 or B16A.. my friend nor myself wanna deal with installing sensors and rewiring ECU ourselve vs.. just buying a harness with new ECU that comes with swap package and plugin in.. if i go this route i would start with swap package this year and start engine mods/turbo next year

Edit" Gonna end this thread here and repost in swap section again since this not really pertaining to turbo issue anymore

I have a D16Y7 and want to aim for about 200hp, Id be happy with approx 180 too. Any suggestions for the easiest cleanest way? My budget is about £900...(*1.6 for dollars)....Is the D16Z6 a simple swap....do I need to change tranny and more? What about the B18C - is there a lot more work invovled there? Turbo's looks like high labour costs....and pressure on engine etc worries me (to many bits to change)....Ideas?

Honestly Id do a mini me swap and boost. The lack of oil getting to the rods IS an issue, but a better oil pump may help that. With the Z6 head and a nice tune you could run like 10 psi and make serious power numbers. Swapping is over rated. I really think you will be MORE than satisfied with a 200 wheel horsepower civic. The car will move. You realize thats roughly double the power youve got now right? My car is AUTOMATIC, its got the wastegate set at 5.5 PSI (Sometimes creeps to 9 or so for a bit) and im using some basetuned greddy fuel management system, and the thing pulls like 10X what it used to. I can not wait to get a 200 whp tune.......you will really be happy with it, and it will cost you less than 2K............I say boost it.

OK, I found a stage 3 turbo kit on ebay for about $900, what else will i need?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Civic...spagenameZWD2V

Any one know ppl in UK who canfit turbos - isn't there more worked invovled?

turbos and engine swap aside - if I ONLY change the intake manifold to that of a Civic EX - any idea of the power gains?

Yes I know I have about 105hp - which is ****

I have a cold air intake but I don't think that does more than change the tone....I think I need to change the intake manifold to maximise upon the intake...?

Something missed my eye last time... I've heard bad things about Eagle products. Get crower rods, imo.

I've heard SS Auto Chrome = junk, yas. You'd probably be better off piecing together your own kit.
