FI and emissions
OK, I'll stop hijacking liquidrider's post. I have a question about emissions and forced induction. basically, what is required to pass if you turbo or SC? jackson racing says their kits all have CARB EO numbers, Greddy says some of theirs do, but doesn't say about the 99-00 civic si, which is what i've got. I am looking to build a sleeper, somewhere in the 225 range at first and the jackson kit is barely capable of that, which is why i was thinking turbo so i could upgrade if i wanted.
I emailed Greddy, so we'll see what they say, but if i wanted to piece a turbo setup together (yes, read the FAQ and shopping list) what are my options on staying emissions legal? is there anything i can do besides changing my ECU? any kind of stand alone fuel management that would work? there's gotta be a way, right? is the JRSC really my only choice?

Pieceing together a turbo kit and emissions legal does not belong in the same sentence.
The edlebrock kit, greddy kit, and I think possibly the revmaster kit are the only ones that I know of that are emissions legal. You need to use their enginemanagement also though.

Go with the edlebrock kit, it's got all you need to start boosting. Just do a compression test first. I dono how well your going to make 225 with a piggybackengine management though.
dunno if i can either, that's why i was a little bummed to find out i had to use an OBD1 ecu to really tune it right. do you think i would have better results with greddy and emanage or jackson racing and hondata? how come hondata can be emissions legal with a jackson SC but not with a greddy turbo? i'm confused.
the kpro is like $1600 right? if i got a kpro could i build my own kit and make it emissions legal? does everyone that boosts an OBD2b car either not have emissions testing or only use their car at the track? that is hard to believe. i knew there was a lot to this, but damn, never thought this would be so complicated. Sounds like if i want to be emissions legal, i have to get a kit, and use whatever management that comes with the kit, is that right?
