It can be done by yourself, but I don't advise doing so unless you've got a couple years of studying under your belt. Long story short, if you don't know what needs to be "tuned," just pay someone with experience to do it.

In a nut shell you get your AFR's setup so that you're not too rich/lean at any point. Then you dig into timing, which can be the hardest part of the whole process (especially if you have a bastard y8[:@])

Ugh, seriously, I'm thinking about swapping to a Z6 head just to get rid of the nightmare.

I've got those same plans in my future, but probably won't get around to actually putting it on until Spring. Hoping to get it at Christmas time, have it fully ported and polised with all new valves springs and retainers. But, in the meantime I'd like to push some boost so I'm heading down to see my tuner again this week, apparently he's got new timing maps for me which should fix my issue.. But the way this y8 has treated me so far, I'm not getting my hopes up

Side note, what are you using for your maps? p30 based, or p72?

Actually I'm on P28 timing maps. Supposedly it blows headgaskets, but I haven't had this issue yet, my car drives great and makes good power so IDK?

I'm hopefully getting the PLX R-300 soon, I've been saving up for it. Knock detection and full USB integration, it's going to be pure sex and 3D maps when I get it.
