Default 17" wheel on my 2000 ex coupe ?

I have a stock 2000 ex coupe 5-speed with the original 14" steel wheels and hubcaps.
Guy at work has a son who had an 01 civic and had some 17" Helo rims with Toyo Proxes FZ4 205/40zr/17 tires on them.

Anyone know if these will fit my 2000 without any problems ?

I was told the wheel base of the 2000 was narrower than the 01's .

I saw 1 of them today, the chrome looks to be in great condition and the tires have about 1/8" tread on them (not sure how much wear that is)

I only drive my civic during the spring/summer and put about 6000 miles on her yearly.

The 17's will fit and the tires won't rub, but I personally would recommend against them. The car will handle differently. It'll take more effort to get up to speed, you'll feel every crack and groove in the pavement, and it'll take a little more effort to stop. I ran with 17s for a little and while they looked great, there were a few negatives.

not to mention un-sprung weight 17 inch aftermarket wheels are just to heavy for civic's unless your using a high end racing wheel like VOLK or something similar.
