2004 SI Control Arm Question
Hello,
I just purchased a 04 Civic Si that has had some suspension damage. (I knew this when I bought it, but I just couldn't pass up a good deal.) This is my first honda, so I am still trying to figure out how to assess and repair the damage. I suspect that there are multiple items damaged in need of repair. It looks like the car skidded over something and some suspension components on both the front and rear took some impact. I have a service manual on order that should help me with part identification.
Now for my first (and most visible) problem: The left (driver's side) front wheel is tilted out on top around 1/2 inch too far. The previous owner said the lower control arm broke and he replaced it himself. I just realized that there is no adjustment for camber. The arm that he put on has been marked 03 Civic. I am wondering if there might be a difference in the 03 civic and the 04 civic Si control arms that might acount for the misallignment that I am seeing? If the 03 arm is shorter, it could possibly cause the wheel to tilt out...

well since its a 04, you have macpherson toe link suspension, so i bet the strut perch on teh top is damaged as well, i would inspect the lower control arm and compare it to teh other side, it should be a mirror image, if the top is tilited out, you probablly have even more structual damage
altho im willing to bet the 03 control arm is different from teh 04 because of a few reasons
it is 5 lug instead of 4 lug, which means its on rsx suspension and axels, so the spindles are different, and so are the knuckles different
i would get a 04 control arm, it should solve your problem

Thanks. If I am going to go out and buy a new control arm, I'd like to get one with some adjustment capability.
Does anyone make a "Skunk2-like" adjustable camber, lower front control arm that fits the 04 Si yet?

well i dont think anyone makes the camber adjustment like the skunk 2 style, but EVERYONE who is driving the new civics are using cam bolt style camber correction method, not sure how big the bolt is, but when you have everything out take a look, it might be a 16mm bolt so you can use the rsx bolts
im trying, but the dude i go through has been going through all sorts of crap lately, and has been out of town for a long time. but the 7g dont have the DBL wishbone fronts, so the S2 style camber kits wont work, though im sure SOMEONE makes a kit for the 7gs.
