u shift without pressing on the clutch????? this is very bad, as it will wear out on the gears fast. even if ur just taking it out of gear. the clutch is supposed to help release the gears without clashing teeth.

if you let your car out of gear with out the clutch while diving the gears it will grind. if their is no force on the gears then it wont grind. examp... While you are sitting with the engine stopped, or while you are in a nutral drive state, not nueatral, were the speed of the gears are equal. the clutch disngaes the trans from the engine it dosnt stop the trans.

it is even possible, with practice , to shift gears without clutch by matching rpms, without damage to tranny. way back in the old days they didnot have syncros to match em up, .. so if your putting car in nuetral while slowing and it grind's, tap accelerator, when you are synched it will slip nicely out of gear

In fact if it grinds while you're taking it out of gear you're either 1) accelerating or 2) compression braking

motorcycles shift all the time without using the clutch.
As long as the speed of the motor matches the speed of the trans, then you will not grind or wear anything out any faster than normal.
