Shifter is loose?

im willing to bet money its the bushings on your shifter. where your shifter bolts to the shift linkage to be exact. on both sides of the shifter should be 2 rubber bushings where the shifter bolt runs through. either replace those bushings or buy yourself a short shifter to eliminate the rubber bushings. these bushings when bad will cause excesive side to side movment of the shifter regardless if in gear of not.

I am sure you are correct. I cannot afford a short shifter right now, so I need to know either a) where I can get some replacements bushings, or b) what the dimensions are (I can't just crawl under the car, it's my fiancees and she has it now) so I can get nylon replacements at home depot or whatever.
