Sorry, I couldn't find a link to my original build thread, I think it got lost in the internets somewhere.

So, Instead of creating a new thread for every stupid thing I do, I'm making this one so that I can just update it accordingly.

Written end of Winter 2008:
In the last month or so ...
Lip is to be paint matched along with a type-r rear lip to match.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/0411081003-00.jpg

I installed the HOP console in and the Cup holder/Coin tray.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/0411081001-00.jpg

I finally got my diagnostic gauges in (Volts, Oil Pressure, A/F aka Light Show)
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/0411081002-00.jpg

My pretty Honda floor mats
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/0411081002-01.jpg

I also picked up a set of seats from a 98 Integra from traitorzxiong. Lumbar Support!!!!

So, today I got around to putting the coilovers, camber kit, and KYB AGX shocks on the front finally.

Also, while I had the wheels off, I screwed on the EK mud guards. That I picked up the the good ol' junk yard last weekend.

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/IMG_0227.jpg

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/IMG_0229.jpg

I don't have pictures of the whole car since I'm letting the springs settle before I drop her lower. I feel a slight difference over bumps, but I attribute that to the new shocks. I was using the stock Honda shocks with a cheap lowering kit before.

Here are two of the old coilovers (repainted to black, of course)
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/IMG_0230.jpg

The fenders that I'm fixing up look will look like these (X1 Style):
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/X1stylefenders.jpg

I'm not going to put them on my car. I just bought them "cheap" because some guy didn't want to do the fiberglass work to fix them. I plan to fix 'em and sell 'em.

Here's my TO-DO list for this season (Spring 2008):

looks good tho.... IMO.... id change the blue calipers to red to match ;)

danomatic93
04-20-2008, 08:50 PM
Yeah, they do need to be painted already. This winter was hell on my car. The colors I'm considering are red, grey(gunmetal), and black. My car's color scheme is slowly but surely going towards black/white with misc. red which can be found in the suspension components and all the ES bushings. So... if my suspension parts are red, then I'll have to make the calipers black or grey.

04-20-2008, 08:57 PM
o ok.... id vote black calipers than..... they look great on my 99...

i painted alot of my suspension black with the caliper brush on paint... wire brushed the rotors outter lip also and painted black as well as the mounting hub and suck brackets. helps keep the rust look down... just as long as theres not rust on where the brake pads touch its great.....
just a few little touches. tho i painted my spindle arm with the spray paint caliper paint and it SUCKED!!!!!!!! so when i swap on my ground controls and new struts im gonna redue them with the brush on caliper paint! only thing that spray paint stuff was good for was the rear drums!

Here's an idea for ya:

instead of fixing up the fenders and selling them, how about fixing them up, shaving the vents, and putting them on your car as stock-style fiberglass fenders? They wouldn't dent, and you'd still be saving around 4lbs on the front end.

and +1 on the black calipers... they're nice and subtle.

So, I picked up an Auto P28 not too long ago and I finally got around to converting it and doing something else...
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/IMG_0244.jpg
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/IMG_0246.jpg
As you can see:
-28 pin DIP socket
-20 pin IC chip: 74HC373
-Jumper in position J1
-1k ohm resistor in position R54
-0.1uF capacitors in positions C51 & C52
-Datalogging pins in position CN2
-RP17 and RP18 components removed and RP18 jumped

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/IMG_0247.jpg
Also, removed some other Auto components IC15 & IC16 for weight reduction, j/k.

Here's my pretty soldering job...
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/IMG_0248.jpg

And here's with the ROM in place...
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/IMG_0250.jpg

Why did I chip a different ECU and not my own? Because, I could not find out whether or not chipping my ECU would allow me to pass emissions or not. I'm just covering my butt.

hell i just went thru my pictures and found my seafoam of my 94... I SWEAR TO GOD you can kinda see the smoke rings i was blowing!!!!! it was funny as hell when i was doing it but the camera was kinda far away.. but you can kinda see the smoke ring if i played with the gas pedal JUST RIGHT!!!!!! i gotta edit that video to fit because its to large right now to upload :(

danomatic93
04-28-2008, 08:15 PM
Yeah, I know the vid really sucks, but those little puff were really all that I got out of it. The first 2 or 3 were a darker grey but then it was all white-ish/grey. I was kind of hopin' for more smoke though. We also did my friends 94 accord and his "new" 87 MR2. My car puffed the most out of the 3.

I've been trying to get my pops to let me seafoam his 84 chip truck. That thing would smoke like no tomorrow!!

I got around to putting some things on my car this weekend. Of which include the mirrors, a new grill (also mounted differently) corner lenses, and the retro-stock headlights.

I also tested my re-wiring of the plug-n-play sidemarker harness to have the JDM blinking instead of the USDM blinking.

Whats the difference in jdm blinkers?

USDM: Sidemarkers are only lit when the blinkers illuminate.
JDM: Sidemarkers are lit when parking lights are on and blink the inverse of the regular blinkers. I'll post a vid when I get them on.

what happened to that lake?

It was a man made lake by constructing a dam in the middle of a river. With all of the flooding the the Midwest had a last month and water level crested over the sides of the dam which then saturated the ground/soil and washed it away. So, really, the dam didn't fail, just the land on it's sides.

Here's a video of an auto-x event this summer. I finally figured out how to compress video. Either way here you go:

It's not a direct swap, but it is pretty straight forward for EGs and EKs

I will have to:
-modify the stock cluster's shroud (the clear plastic and gauge face frame) a little to accommodate the wider Integra cluster.
-cut back the Integra cluster's shroud
-cut, connect and solder the Integra pigtails to the stock harness
-make a clear plexiglas cover...

etc... It'll all be in the write up.

Hey how did u wire the sidemarkers to run then blink opposite?

danomatic93
10-08-2008, 08:18 PM
I actually read on how from EJ6Buddy:
hehe, yeah, just finished mine up with a homegrown harness. yeah, there's two ways, usdm and jdm. my suggestion is to go with the usdm so they only blink with the turn signals and hazards.

your sidemarkers will have a positive and negative (aka green and black)
your front turn signals will have three wires b/c it's a dual filiment bulb (aka black, red, and green)

a) if you want them to light up only with your turn signals, then wire the sidemarker into the green and black with the positive and negative (respectively)

b) if you want them to light up all the time with your running lights, then wire the sidemarker into the red and black with the positive and negative (respectively)

c) if you want them to light up all the time and blink alternately with your turn signals, then wire the sidemarker into the red and green with the positive and negative (respectively)

lemme know if you have any more questions

Awesome! The whole reason I got the sidemarkers were for my own safety. I figured why have them if they don't stay lit the whole time and blink when you're turning.

Since I put mine in, I haven't had a car move into my lane at night.

For an EG it takes quite a bit of effort to make it look nice.
It's much easier for an EK.
You do have to rewire for an EG, but EK's you can simply repin.

danomatic93
10-23-2008, 07:53 AM
I do have the beaks subframe reinforcement actually (It hides well). That sway bar is way to big to be running without some reinforcement, even though the EG subframe isn't as compromised as the EK subframe.

Here's my suspension setup in the rear:
~22mm ITR anti-sway bar and endlinks
~Beaks subframe reinforcement

danomatic93
10-23-2008, 08:07 PM

ej6buddy
10-23-2008, 09:43 PM
ABS is fine, but polyurethane is da bomb....lol. I've scraped my poly lip plenty of times and it barely has any scuffs or anything.

basbal123
10-24-2008, 08:09 AM
^^ true that and abs can bend a little, but it will also crack tear, etc...polyurethand you twist liek 360 degrees and go right back to how it was.. there impossible to crack and tear and ive scraped to and still riding with...actually when i got in my accident the lip was the only thing that survived on the front end of the car =] =]

In preparation for my track day on Friday I've had to get off my butt and get some things done.

Here's my new poor man's fastline shifter.

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/IMG_0722.jpg

How you ask?
1. Get a turnbuckle (most hardware store have 'em)
2. Re-Drill both ends with a 8.5 metric drill bit
3. Tap both ends with a M10 x 1.5 tap.
4. Get a M10 x 1.5 bolt, cut off the head and clean the threads on the cut end, you may have to use a die.
5. Assemble:
a. Thread the bolt into the shift knob (do not use weighted shift knobs).
b. Thread other end of the bolt into on end of the turnbuckle.
c. Thread a M10 X 1.5 nut onto the shifter.
d. Thread the turnbuckle onth the shifter.
e. Tighten nut to turnbuckle.

It will ONLY be used on tracks. For testing, I've been puttin' around town it and it's fun but it blocks my cup holder :(

ej6buddy
10-27-2008, 09:59 PM
is that so you don't have to move your hand so far from the steering wheel to the shifter?

that is correct, but is not efficient for dd'ing a car. It's for lower speed courses where gear changes are frequent and require constant attention to the steering wheel.

Well, I finally got around to installing the Integra 4040 proportioning valve and a new 15/16 bore Master Cylinder (from a 91 Civic EX sedan, seriously!)

And holy crap! My brakes are much tighter. I definitely recommend do it! Sorry, no pics. I blame that on the damn Wisconsin winter.

trustdestruction
12-09-2008, 11:25 PM
How much does that cost and how long/hard of an install? What's different about the 91 EX sedan master cylinder?
I may consider doing this... though, my brake master cylinder is new. How much help do you think just the proportioning valve would do?

danomatic93
12-09-2008, 11:47 PM
The P-valve was $30 off eBay 6 months ago and the MC was $100 from my local auto parts store. The difference between the MC's is the bore. Mine was 7/8 and the new one is 15/16. The larger the bore, the less you have to press on the pedal to get the same amount of braking. The larger MC amplifies overall braking when the P-valve allows stronger braking to the rear discs compared to the stock 3030 P-valve which is set up for drums brakes.

I have an EX so my MC is already pretty darn good at 7/8. The other models (DX, HX...) have 13/16 MC which, so I've been told, can make the pedal feel very spongey after a rear disc swap.

Apparently you can get the 15/16" MC from the 90-91 EX sedan, 91 prelude Si, or 90+ Integra.

OR you can go balls to the walls change the MC to the Integra 1", but you'd have to replace the booster too.

trustdestruction
12-09-2008, 11:57 PM
How can I find out my MC bore and what p-valve I have?

I have a 1993 Del Sol Si and it has rear discs stock.

trustdestruction
12-10-2008, 12:17 AM
nevermind, figured it out

idk if i care enough to swap this out, my brakes work fine
lol

danomatic93
12-10-2008, 12:53 AM
Yeah, EX coupes didn't have rear disc, boo. Either way, I wouldn't have swapped out the P-valve and MC if I didn't take my car on tracks like I do. When I'm going 120 I need the reassurance that my car will be able to get back to 50-60 for the turns! lol

trustdestruction
12-10-2008, 11:56 AM
So I did some research and it looks like (I think) my P-valve is 40-40, but my MC is 13/16. I may upgrade the MC in the future. I was not aware of this easy brake upgrade until you mentioned it in your thread, so i'm really glad I read it because someday i'm definitely going to do this, maybe with a 1" bore MC out of a Integra GSR. I may buy that soon, because there's a GSR at the junkyard with MC and booster still in it in good condition.

12-10-2008, 01:28 PM
There is a point at which having a bigger MC would hurt braking. That would be when very lightly tap the pedal and your brakes lock up. Normally people upgrade to the 1" if they do a big brake swap or something, but heck why not. I've just heard that replacing a booster is annoying.

trustdestruction
12-10-2008, 01:33 PM
So do you think 1" bore would hurt braking or would that be where you would draw the line?
The reason i'd replace the booster is because mine is all rusty and when i got my brakes inspected tires plus told me it was probably going to go out soon.

danomatic93
12-18-2008, 09:08 AM
Well, I can't speak from personal experience but, right now with a 15/16 MC the feel of my brake pedal is exactly were I want it. It's not too touchy, but it definitely brakes.

My assumption if I went up to the 1" that my braking would be just a tad more touchy than I would like. But that's just me. Give her a try and let us know!!

trustdestruction
12-18-2008, 06:09 PM
Note: If not upgrading brake sizes or disc conversion, don't replace master cylinder with a larger bore, it will not help. If anything, just upgrade pads and get some braided lines.
I have rear discs from the factory but for some reason my MC is still the same as a Civic without rear discs.

My p-valve is something weird.. 17-25... I don't think i'll be changing that out, it seems like it's probably that way for a reason. If I upgrade MC i'll do the 15/16 also.

ej6buddy
12-18-2008, 07:00 PM
When doing brake upgrades (such as increasing rotor size) all four brakes should increase in size proportionately, then all you need to do is replace the mc, if you're upgrading the front knuckles and rotors, then you'll most likely you'll need a new mc and pv, when doing a rear disc conversion, make sure the pv is the same in your car as the donor car with the original brakes, then slightly upgrade the mc. If you have abs brakes, don't worry too much about mc sizes. When you're working with non-abs brakes, then mc sizes are a large concern.

lol, right before winter started. BUT, they're not stock, they're JDM styled blacked out housings with city lights.

I was disappointed in the overall light output with the HID projectors in the stock housings. I think that the OEM glass' rippled surface scattered the light all over. Oh well.

Iv seen that rear view mirror in some civic's that went from the pass side to the drivers side, how long is that thing?

It's just 2 inches shy of 3 feet. I can't wait to install it. I'll remove the stock mirror for the windshield and the sun visors as well. Then attach the brackets to where the sun visors once were attached.

Mini-Me-Mini-Side-Project-Build
Also, I've been helping a good friend of mine with a mini-me swap. He has a 90 CRX Si. He had a bad head gasket for a good 6-7 months now, but it finally got pissed. So, since I conveniently convinced him last summer to buy parts for a mini-me swap, he had everything ready to go.

He's going with the Z6 head, while retaining the stock D16A6 block, intake mani, dizzy, exhaust, and computer. We're keeping it OBD0 for cost and simplicity reasons.

Yesterday Afternoon: After the smoke storm...
We focused on just getting the old head off, it was Super Bowl Sunday for pete's sake.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/0202092022-01.jpg

It was also time for remove the non-functioning A/C components.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/0202092022-00.jpg

I went back over this evening and he had already prepped the donor head and the stock block. We threw on the head and Intake mani.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/0202092021-01.jpg

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/civic93pearlwhite/0203090052-00.jpg

We're going to finish it up tomorrow by installing a new radiator, as his old one was anorexic, then filling and flushing the coolant system. I'll try to remember to bring my actual camera to capture the miracle of rebirth.

Yeah, it's definitely in the works. I just took some snap shots. My DIY, will be nice and detailed and hopefully completely straightforward, as I always try to do. I'm waiting on the switch (which I bought before I bought the pole so it should be here by now) and for the stupid 'security' nut that mounts on top of the bumper. It's basically a power antenna nut. I have to find one since my pole didn't come with one...

Don't worry most seasoned forum goers may not even know what it is...

...it's a 'JDM' super cool yo... ...Parking Pole. a.k.a. Bumper pole

It's function is to look 'cool' and JDM...
...but its secondary function is to, when fully extended, indicate where exactly the passenger's side front corner of the car is. It makes tight parking situations easier.

It was an option in Japan because of their super tight parking spaces. That being said, it's relatively unnecessary/overkill for the U.S. but I do have to street park from time to time.

Furthermore, I got it because it's a 'cool' toy to have more than because I suck at parking.

Since it was sooo beautiful out today I got some ambition to work on it some more.
Here's what I got done:
-the front lip back on
-'installed' the RSX windshield nozzles easiest mod I've ever done!
-PWJDM bolts and dress up washers. Since 4 bolts snapped I had to drill out the stump with a 5mm drill bit and re-tap the hole with a M6x1.00. Also, a long while back I drilled out the 5 top bumper holes and replaced them with fat drywall screws since. Now, I'm fixing them properly with some helicoils. But tha'll have to wait for tomorrow.

So, tomorrow I hope to get the bumper screws done and maybe start on the bumper pole.

Nope, no ABS here, and the 14" HX wheels clear the outer edge of the caliper but I'll have to trim a little off out the caliper bracket otherwise the hub of the wheel rubs. I could also rectify the issue with wheels spacers but then extended lug stud may be advisable. So, I'll just trim the bracket.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-95-CIVIC-CARBON-FIBER-DOOR-PANELS-INSERTS-INTERIOR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c6 6Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c 293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhash Zitem170316710521QQitemZ170316710521QQptZMotorsQ5f CarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_2174wt_1360

Yeah I've seen those before. I think they're too pricey for what they are. They are more than what I bought my hood for actually. I have been eying a CF dash tray, but again the price turns me off. So, I like some CF in the interior. Just look are my shift boots. They the fabric that there are made of is supposed to look like CF.

Bingo, and I really don't know. I bought it on fleabay (eBay) and got the cheapest one. So, obviously the quality is perfect. I have to add more clear coat to it as you can actually touch the CF in some parts, lol.

Side note: I'm really going to miss my friends CRX mainly because you can call it a cervix. I have another friend with a Toy-My-Ota Merr Two or Mister Two (Toyota MR2) and a McCord (Honda Accord).

Holy balls, that's going for WAYYYYY too much. I got the pole for 50 and a switch for 15.

Oh, btw, that pole is from an EK. You can tell by the style of switch and the fact that it has a relay box. The EK switch is a single push button that you press it once for up and once for down where the EG pole has a two way switch, press up for up and down for down.

i would probably leave the lettering painted now.... sanding off the paint can be tuff and polishing without hitting the painted area.....

thats why i sanded and polished my letters before i painted my old one. then alittle chapstick on the lettering and simply paint and then after its dry it simply flakes off with your finger nail to show that polished lettering.

not to be so negative... but you forgot something... :( the paint on the bolts and washers... ;) so your not done yet.... and those suck painting since you really need to paint them on the motor.... otherwise if you paint them and then put them on the paint will chip off. so best to put them on the motor and then paint em with everything taped off.

Marcus, I'm prolly just going to hit the bolts with some touch up paint. Here's a little trick if any of yall didn't know. If you are using spray paint and you need to touch up a little spot, spray the spray paint into the cap, enough to get some paint in there. Then, using a touch up paint brush or something similar, spread on the paint.

Nice work, how long did it take you to fin that?

I worked on it 3 separated days. With probably 3-4 hours each time, which includes setup and clean up time. So, doing that tough math 9-12 hours. The most time consuming part was making off for the rays.

I think this is another one of those, 'I'll never do it again' things because solid colors are soooo much easier to do.

danomatic93

What kind of paint did you use?

I was going to use just regular spray paint (like rustoleum) but I couldn't find the red that I wanted, someone else decided they needed all the red the store had. But I found the red in some high temp enamel spray. I used regular auto primer then a white base coat with engine enamel spray paint. Then hit the stripes with red enamel spray and finished it off with standard clear coat.

It's not necessary to have the high temp paint on the valve cover, but I ended up using it anyways because I couldn't find the red in regular spray.
