i have a 1988 honda civic dx... with a 1999 civic si motor . " 1.6 vtec" B16

i just put the motor back together yesterday .. and no it cranks fine but will not run .. . if i spray starting fluid in the throttle body it will run for a second then die ....i have pressure to the fuel rail ... but the injectors arent firing ...i know there not clogged ... someone mentioned some kind of relay under the dash that deals with that ... but im not sure what to check ..

any help would be a huge help ... thanks DUSTIN

 

I know it sounds stupid but did you make sure all your plugs/harnesses are all plugged in completly? Why did you have the engine apart? Are you using the same ecu?

 

Check out the relay under the dashboard as suggested. Had the same recent case with the fuel injectors. Replacing the relay fixed it.

 

Another thing to check is your ecu. Is it the same ecu you had in the car from 88? Your ecu has to match up with your engine. In most cases.
