So its been a while since i updated... But thats beacuse i havent done much. money is pretty tight right now...

A few things I've done are:

Resoldered my main relay (thanks to trust), now it turns on even in the hotest days with no problem..haha.

Ordered the targa top handles (should be here by next week). i decided to ordered them even tho its almost winter time, because i hate hearing the roof moving up and down on bumps. seems like its loose or something. and i've read that you can put a washer and stuff to make it fit better. I'll be looking in to that when the handles come in.

I bought everything for a full tune up a while back, maybe 2 weeks ago.
The first thing i was going to do was chaange the spark plugs.. I took one out and it looked in PERFECT condition, i took another one out... and it was the same.

The guy i bought it from said he had done a full tune up a week before he sold it to me. (I never believe it when ppl selling a car tell you that...)
so then i was like... well maybe the guy told me the truth lol.
and i decided to postpone the tune up a month or so. that way i would just use what it has. since the plugs looked new. might as well right? lol

ever since i bought it i always noticed a smell of like running rich or burning oil or something. but i thought i was just going crazy lol since it didnt smoke.

so today i was getting on the on-ramp.. and noticed that right after Vtec hit that i would throw out a bit of somke.. so then when i got home i tested again and yeah... when it gets to like 5.5k rpms i start seeing a trace of smoke.
so im guessing i must be burning a bit of oil uh?
worn out oil rings?
what do you guys think.

then i also thought....MMMMM maybe the plugs looked new because its running too rich?
idk lol.

So my roof handles came in yesterday!
i finally got to take the top off for the first time..LOL

BTW i need some ideas on what i should do..
My clutch is starting to slip pretty bad..
and at higher RPMs she decides to cough up some black somoke. (guessing its the oil rings?)

So i guess im gonna start saving up so i can get a new clutch AND do something about the engine..

what should i do? what would be the cheaper/best thing to do?
Rebuild the d16z6?
ditch the d16 and get a jdm d15? (its cheaper than the d16z6..lol)
ditch my car? LOL JP

And what clutch would you guys recommend?
btw i thought about it and im planning on turboing sometime in the future. (~200ish hp im guessing) nothing too big. again...in the future, once i learn more about turboing and stuff.

any ideas/opinnions/suggestions are all welcome

you could always trade the sol for a crx. just so happens i know where one is..... lol. anywho, if ur gonna swap it, why not go b series? i understand money is an issue tho, i am broke and have a kid on the way so my crx is just sitting there. well, a jdm d15 would be pretty sweet in there IMO. anything that makes ur car a bit out of the ordinary (i know the swap is common, but jay-dee-emm? crazy tyte) i know, im no help whatsoever. jdm d15 man, thats what i would do.

@mbrent: too bad i live pretty far from you for a trade LOL

@chubby chaser (lol): well yeah i would just drive it till the motor blows, but we have smog checks once a year.. so that would be an issue if it blows before the next smog check.. since it would probably fail it. LOL

i thought it would be a better move to do change the motor and clutch at the same time, you know?

about how much is a rebuild?

call around and ask engine machine shops, it all depends on what all you want done to it. the black smoke could just been carbon build up. try the seafoam trick. i wouldnt worry to much about it unless you see white smoke or blue smoke.

you know.. a friend told me it could be build up as well...
but then i noticed i was low on oil. so it threw that out the window.
LOL
do you think its better to rebuild tho? rather than getting a different engine.

Right now im only trying to find out about how much money im gonna need for when winter is over and i decide to fix it... since once winter hits its gonna become undriveable because of snow..lol del sol is kinda low, and i live in a area that gets pretty snowed up..
but thats what my civic is for lol

swap man. what if the machine shop runs into "unforseen charges" (insert ominous voice). at least if u get a low mileage swap, u know that honda put it together right. if u ever plan on selling or trading, its easier for people to believe that the engine was swapped when they see "d15b" than it is for them to believe that "yeah, i got it rebuilt", and just relying on truth in ur word. theres different ways the two things can be argued tho. just do what makes u happy. "do you, bro" (jersey shore quote)

So I havent updated this in a while... but there hasnt been much done..lol
I decided i would start putting money aside every check that will go towards a new motor when the one i have decides to take a ****.
And i'll decide on a motor depending on how much money i got saved up and stuff.

A few things i'll be doing probably today or tomorrow are:
1. order LEDs to replace all the interior bulbs (thanks to Trust for the list of every bulb required =])
2. Get a new Shiftboot and E-break Boot.. Any ideas on where to find em? i know theres a shift boot on PWJDM, but i dont see the Ebreak anywhere on there...
3.Figure out how to stop my dam roof from making that dam noise after every F&#%&*@ bump.
lol gets annoying after a while..

The roof leak/sqweeeeeek is the most annoying thing ever. Its what made me HATE my del sol. I did the washer trick, and it went away for a while.... then came back
