i scratch going into lots of driveways but no major damage. some scratches on the bottom of the lip but not seeable since its on the bottom. you should consider doing a mild drop since it makes a car look 100 times better, its worth it IMO, to have a few scratches

 

Philly area is no treat to drive around in either with a dropped car.

I have a screw going down from the bottom of my lip (on both corners). The screws come down about 1/2 inch from the bottom of the lip. Whenever I try a steep hill/driveway, I do it slowly and listen for the metal screw to scratch. If it does, I stop and say "screw that incline" haha. I haven't had a scratch on the underside of my lip yet and you can't see the screw unless your looking at the underside of the front bumper.

Every once in awhile, the screw will need to be replaced since it grinds on the ground to tell you it's too steep of a hill, no biggie IMO though.

 

Well, I snagged an Integra map light off that same wrecked 97 Teg LS. Cheap as free, hey. I know these swap right into an EG but I'm not 100% sure they'll work with an EK. The Teg had a moon roof. My Civic doesn't. I dunno if I can make this work. But here's what I've started with:



The EG and EK have a different curvature of the headliner. It's kinda reversed. So that rounded part won't fit. So I hacked it off.



Now it'll sit flat on the headliner.

I've never pulled my headliner so I don't know if the brackets are there on a 4 door. I also don't know if they'll line up with this map light. Again, I live in the south. We are famous for engineering things to work the way we want. One way or another, I WILL make this thing fit. But that part of the project is for another day. Its getting late and I have plans this evening.

 

Well, as I thought... the brackets aren't there on the 4 door. If you want a map light, you've gotta do it custom. So as usual, I did it custom.

I soldered wires to the ground terminals and then soldered a positive wire onto the positive terminal. The two grounds came together into one wire and I ran them all to the dome light where I tapped power. Worked fine.



This was the WORST part of the job. Making that first cut was the hardest thing I've had to do lately. If you mess up, the headliner is ruined and you need a new one. I went ahead and slashed away until I had this.


Put the light in, leaving the headliner parts in there to hold the light securely...


And boom. Wired up and it works.

 

...and you did it while it was raining. (Or at least that's when the pictures were taken.) You were like "F you rain, I'm gonna work with my lights/electricity anyways" lol.

It looks good itinerant. Definitely looks stock, like it is supposed to be there.

 

It was more like "damn, it's raining. Can't wash the car. Gotta work inside..."

Its on the list. Complete LED conversion is up next. Turn signals, brake lights, reverse lights, plate lights, dome and map lights, cluster lights, buttons and climate control, everything.

 

LMFAO only thing i dont work with on the rain is 110 or 220 home power wires.LMFAO but batteries im never scared about working in the rain. chances of you getting a shock are HIGHLY UNLIKELY!!! plus the inside is dry.

map lights look good tho.

I haven't slept since about 3 yesterday. As such, i'm really open to suggestion/persuasion.

So, I persuaded myself that it was time to spend the $77.02 on some new floor mats. In around a week, I'll have some brand new OEM black Honda 4dr Civic mats.
