I swear this is never gonna end but I finally talked to the insurance company of the person that hit my car in the door/qp again. Earlier in the week I had an estimate done and it came to ~$2800 for the damage. Since it's so high they want to send someone out to look at it. This means they could possibly total it.

I think it's stupid. I'm only 19, if they do total it, how am I supposed to get to school and work when its my dd and I'm not old enough for a rental car?

Besides that, I have a couple options. There is no damage to the front of the car besides small cosmetic stuff. So I could take the $3k-4k, buy it back, have it fixed and get it inspected. But that means I get the dreaded salvaged title.

Or I can take the money and get something else. That sucks because I'm always busy and I want this car! Only 106k miles.

Only other scenario is that it's not totaled, which I highly doubt.

A 17 year old car with ~$3k in damage? I am sure the insurance company would already be leaning towards totaling it out.

If totaled, I would buy it back, fix it up, and begin saving for a new DD. Once you have a new DD, I would have fun with the del sol (gutting everything out, you know have a race car you can have fun with)

Nothing wrong with a salvage title... All 3 of my Civics had them.

My thoughts exactly.
Especially if you know nothing is wrong with it (like a bent frame or something).
If totaled, (which most likely will be) I would buy it back and go on.

I would probably try and fight the inssurance for more money if it gets totaled tho..
You never know..

Thanks for the input guys. My only worry about a salvaged title is when I go to sell it in the future. I guess as long as I document everything and explain why it would have a salvaged title it wouldnt be a big deal. Just gonna keep my eye out for something clean while its being fixed.

Good news! The adjuster came and took a look at the car today. Older guy, said he had an older son who is a honda enthusiast. He explained how he knows a good amount about them because of his son and noticed a lot of the modifications on my car. Instead of writing the blue book value down he wanted a personal value that I felt my car was worth after the time and money I have put into it along with its low mileage. If I were to sell the car I wouldnt sell it for much more than I bought it, but I told him a generous ~$5k. He said he would value it at higher than that by just the looks and good condition its in, minus the door lol. That being said, he didn't total it out and is writing another estimate. After that, I should get a payment.

So happy to hear this and the car is going in for repair and paint tomorrow morning. Gonna be a long week haha.

WOW! Luckiest s.o.b. out there eh? How random is it that the inspector guy has a son who's a Honda enthusiest like you and that the guy would actually know about Hondas and mods to them? Thats awesome man, this is a great break for you (and the sol ).
