Have you thought about just sanding it down a bit more and then just painting it flat black?

Stainless steel is only rust resistant on the surface, right?

Because if these headers were EVEN stainless in the first place, they rust now. I threw them in our sanitary tub and washed it, this morning it had surface rust all over.

I found VHT sells clear coat, so I'm going to go ahead with the polishing and clear coat it. People say it turns gold, which will still look good. Going to go beast and try to get all the pitting off.

Also replaced my exhaust mani nuts with stainless steel today, shiney .

^ it depends on the quality of the stainless if its a good quality it shouldn't ever rust if its a cheap quality it may only take a few days from brand new

I finished polishing the top of the header today, I don't care about the bottom half. Won't see any of it. It turned out pretty good, shined up real well on the top of the primaries, got a decent amount of the pitting gone. There's still a decent amount there but it is less noticeable. Going to be running to Advanced in a few minutes to see if they have VHT clear coat in stock, otherwise I'm ordering from Summit. Also am going to get new stainless bolts to connect the 2 piece together.

Also, I've been thinking about my suspension for next month. Looking at the spring rates of my Skunk2 springs, the stiffness of them is deterring me from them. So my my plan is changing to what it SHOULD have been in the first place. I will be selling my springs, I should be able to get like $150 seeing as they are brand new, never have touched a shock. I will be going with some Ground Control coilover sleeves over KYB AGX's, little pricey but worth it. I sell the springs for $150 and it is only like $125 more for the coils, no biggie. So GC coils, KYBs, and Blox front camber kit will be ordered this weekish!

Here's pics of the header:

Thanks for compliments.

96: I posted on your thread, easiest way to find a bolt is a junk yard, sohcs are always at mine.

Well advanced doesn't have the clear so looks like I will be ordering some. Hope to have the header on next weekend so I need to order this stuff soon.

Cost me like $15 to replace hardware. Like $7 for the 3 two piece connector things and nuts and $7 for two stainless bolts for the cat bolts. Like $3 for all the stainless nuts for the exhaust studs. Bolts are so expensive.
