Again, part of our differences lies in the fact that you advocate treating disease symptoms whereas I advocate treating the causes. In addition, you address complex problems as though they are black and white whereas I strive to recognize them for their many shades of gray. In my opinion, if you are truly interested in solving problems as opposed to creating them, your viewpoints must evolve away from simplistic, emotional reactions. Our society is much too complex for this to work.

Our society is much too stubborn for anything else to work. Like I said, my approach brings near future results (good or bad) which I will be a ble to see. Long term approaches are nice, but not when I want immediate visible results.

Biggest part of our differences is that you actually care. I REALLY don't care about people who don't care about themselves. To me they're not worth salvaging.

I think they're worth salvaging. I don't sympathize with them while in their state, unless of course it's something mental that they can't help, but I do think they need to be helped so that they do start caring about themselves.

Are these the immediate changes you would like: Increased execution of criminals by the state and the development of forced labor camps for both criminals and the indigent? I think you should consider moving your family to Sudan or Burma rather than Switzerland.

You are correct. I do care. This is a strength not a weakness. Some people just need some help to learn to care about themselves. I care about these people because I want my children to live and raise their children in a better country and world than we currently have. Our only opportunity to achieve this goal is to care and to take responsible, well reasoned action.

Ron, how many life sentence criminals do we have? WHY bother paying for them to live? They aren't coming out of there anyway.

This is where we again differ. Human life doesn't seem to hold much value for you. But yeah, I don't know the number, but I suspect it isn't small. Due to the ultimate severity of a death sentence and the possibility for innocence, the convicted are allowed many appeals. This slow process has demonstrated value as subsequent evidence (e.g., DNA ) has exonerated a few death row inmates. Nonetheless, I do understand your point. My hope is that in the future we will make positive changes in our society to reduce the number of individuals that commit heinous crimes.

Disclaimer: I have not read the last 9 pages. I probably will next week though.

Lets talk about Palin's "Experiencing" for a moment. She was the mayor of a city 8,000 people. That hardly counts as executive experience. As a comparison, the high school I attended to has 4,000 students. Enough about that though, lets talk about what she actually did as mayor. When she stepped into office, her town had a balanced budget. When she left, the town had a $22 million deficit. Maybe she spent the $22 million on schools, hospitals, roads, and other infrastructure. WRONG. What did she actually spend the money on then? A $15+ Million sports center (and the land it was built on the city doesn't have the title to) and a $1 million park. Thats some Grade A executive experience she has there. Furthermore, Executive Experience is overrated. Our current president (George W Bush if you forgot) has plenty of executive experience. He was the mayor of a pretty big state and some other business stuff. He put his executive experience to good use didn't he. Lets call this tactic for what it is, a weak attempt to get women voters to vote for McCain.
