Who would buy a hyundai?
a friend of mine fiancee has one, and she has had constant problems with it...also, her sister has one, and its been the same case. the fiancee drives an 03 tibby, the sister has an 03 tibby GT.
yes, they do have an incredible warranty, but he has had to fight constantly with the dealership to actually get anything fixed under the B2B warranty. their car has had a crack exhaust manifold on three seperate occassions. EVERY time they have taken it, in, the dealership has told them "just drive it, because we have to order one"...it tooks weeks to get it. at one point, BOTH of the interior door handles were broken, so to open the doors, you had to open the windows, and use the outside handle.
there is some problem with the rear suspension that they just wont address...he rotates the tires regularly, and has had the car aligned several times, and it still wears rear tires very badly.
also, the sunroof has broken 6 or 7 times now...
in EVERY SINGLE case of something going wrong, they have said "we can fix it, but we need to order the parts"...at one point, the door handles werent working, the sunroof was stuck partially open, and the keyless entry worked, only when it felt like it...so it was a nightmare to drive because sometimes, the factory alarm wouldnt disarm. so he took the car to the dealership and told them...the warranty is supposed to include a rental, but they refused.
just for the sake of arguement, my dad (who owns a shop) called that same dealership and told them that he was working on an 02 tibby and he needed a sunroof motor, the door handle assemblies, and a keyless entry module..they told him that they had the door handles in stock, but would have to order the other stuff...and it would be in a few days later.
my buddy waited 3 weeks for his car to be done...

as far as DDs go theyre great cars. reliable, cheap to maintain, but when it comes to performance there are muuuch better cars out there.
i do like tibbys tho.
ps pat the v6 tibby is junk. hyundai 'tuners' view it the same way we view the d17. crappy engine and a waste of time. the new tibbys in general are pretty junky...but the four banger has the best I4 that hyundai makes.
