CEL codes start with the letter P followed by four numbers, the first of which is typically 0 or 1. I am not sure that the method you are using will actually reveal the code -- it may simply indicate that a code is stored in the ECM. Perhaps someone else in this forum will tell you the answer. You can definitely learn the CEL code by taking your car to AutoZone, where they will use a scan tool to retrieve the code free of charge.

Bring it to Autozone and have them scan it. It's a free service they offer and if you get someone with half a brain in their head, they'll even give you tips on how to fix it.

You can in fact retrieve a CEL code(s) by the jumper wire method.

The following links shows that CEL code 9 obtained by this method indicates a problem with the CYP (cylinder position) sensor or circuit.
