Cooling fan wont come on
Like I said the cooling fan doesnt come on but.. the car doesnt overheat according to the gauge.. Even when I had my e-test done the guy said it never came on and I needed a new one. But I just tested the fan doing a bench test and it worked fine.. What else would cause it not to come on?
If the engine doesn't overheat you don't need to worry about it yet. Especially in cold weather it will only come on after idling for a long time.
You can check the system this way: Unplug the thermal switch on the thermostat housing. Jumper the two pins in the plug (harness side) together with a test wire. Turn the key on and the fan should start immediately. This proves the fuse, relay, motor, and the rest of the circuit are OK. After passing this test, if the car overheats (though only while sitting still and idling because the fan doesn't come on) the switch is probably bad.
