Default I think its sticky lifters...

After my car has been sitting overnight, sometimes I will start my car and as soon as I slightly accelerate I hear a ticking sound coming from the front of the car. I will let off and accelerate more and I will hear it a little louder the more I accelerate. After 3 or 4 times of repeating this process, the noise disappears. What do you think it could be? I added Sea Foam to my engine prior to my last oil change but the ticking is still there. What do you think? It's just annoying and I don't think its any problem.

what year is your civic, km/miles, engine.

I have a 93 LX, D15B7 with 200 000km on it. Since i've ownedit (started at 135 000km) it's always made a little ticking noise when coldthat goes away once the engine starts warming up. It's reallyjustthe valves closing against the head. You can try getting the valve lash adjusted by a mechanic or if you'reconfident enoughyou can do it yourself.

might be a pulley that needs to be oiled and just takes a few minutes to warm up.

You may just need to set your valve lash.
