I have aquired a 97 1.5i v-tech but there is a slight knocking type sound from the engine.
When the car is stationary, the engine sounds great, even when I rev it hard. but when I pull away there is a slight knocking sound, especially when cold. If I decelerate hard there is no noise.
I have spoken to a mechanic who say's this is ok and typical Hona noise but I'm still no sure??

 

Is this knocking sound characteristic of vtech engine??

 

It's not VTECH, loose the "h"

Could be a torn CV boot. When one tears, all sorts of dirt gets all up in there and makes acceleration real bumpy and uneven.
