The car is a 00 Civic SI. When I raise my window it goes up fine, but when it gets to the top it doesn't stop. By that I mean I have to stop pressing the button at just the right time. If I don't stop pressing the button, the window will very loudly pop back down about a 1/4" and go back up, and back down a 1/4". It will continue doing this as long as the button that raises the window is pressed.

Not long ago, this window came off the track. I took the panel off, lubed the tracks, and it worked fine until now.

I guess what I need to find out is how do the windows know to stop when they get to their upmost raised position?

 

Sounds like the regulator gear is stripped. This is the gear that engages the one on the motor. When it gets to the last tooth it skips, causing the window to jump up and down.

Forty04, I saw some of your old posts about your window a while back. I saw that you had some pics, and video, but all the links were broken. From what you described, it sounded like you had a similar problem to my window....
