Default rattle/knocking noise

I have a civic 2.2ex i-ctdi first registered in june 2006,my car makes a knocking noise when started in the morning and reversed off the driveway. It only seems to do this when the car has been stood for an hour or two.My dealer has had 6 attempts at rectifying the problem but with no success, has anybody else experienced this problem? If so please let me know.

Two things come to mind. One is oil starvation and the other is pistons slap. Pistons slap usually goes away when the motor is at temp.

Does the oil light stay on?

Can you locate the noise?

Thanks for your reply,i have been told today it is the shock absorbers on the rear of the car.The dealer told me it is a common fault, but could not give me a date to have it fixed even though the car has a warranty. So the curtosy car they supplied me is not going to be given back until it is i.e. i am holding them to ransom as this is the sixth time they have tried to fix this problem.
