Default Think i have a big problem

So my motor was making a ticking noise i changed my oil and was hoping that would help but it didnt. so i started listing around and i was hoping it was the valve train cause thats an easy fix for me cause i got 2 spare heads. o its a 97 1.6 non vtec. but it wasnt it i heard it in the header and one of my friends said it sounds like it could be the rings. But it dosent smoke or anything. 1 thing i could think of is that it always had synthetic blend oil in it from day 1 and i put regular oil in it but i changed it right away when i found out. Any help???

You may have spun a rod bearing.

i would hear that through the header? Would that also give me a loss in oil when it dosent leak or burn it? It dosent have any loss in power that i have noticed. i have noticed that it quiets down once it gets warm. Idk i hope its not that any more advice or opinon

Have you adjusted the valves? Unlike most other cars, they don't adjust themselves. Noise from the top of the engine that gets quieter as it warms up-- is typically what loose rocker arms do.

Also hold your hand over the tail pipe to check for exhaust leaks. They can cause a new sound.

ok cool so i can adjust the valves, but what is the amount of torqe? ya i do have a exhaust leak. someone put 2.5" exhaust on it and must of had a header and moved the cat back underneath cause where that is suppose to be is stock pipe and they pinched the pipes together. so im getting a header kit for it to fix the problem, maybe that will help with the tick?
