trying to figure out exacly what my engine is..
noob here im no mechanic but ever since i could drive a car i did my own repairs most of the time but now ive been thinking of tuning my civic for ****s and giggles and well i cant find of what the exact engine i have i know its a b16 but which and does it matter if its a b16a or a1 a2 ect. i have 98 civic si coupe 2 door and i cant find it listed anywhere basicly i just want to know if its vtec and if not if i can convert it and if its worth it it has about 220k but it runs like its brand new i just put a magnaflow exhaust from the front pipe and back and it sounds great. i found the engrave on the block it just says B16 y8
any help or suggestions ?

alltho this does not sound like my car , red line is at 7900 rpm and i do not feel the vtec kick in (i heard that you dont really feel it when its set at the right rpm) is this normal ? , and it is a SI not ex idk if that matters , everything is stock , think its worth tuning this for fun ? or should i just start looking for a better engine
