Welding cracked exhaust manifold
Quick question. I have a 99 DX with the obligatory cracked manifold. The dealer has already turned me down for warranty work, so I am left with 2 options. Try and weld the crack shut or buy a new/used part. Being that I have extremely limited funds I would like to try and weld the manifold.
I would like to weld while the manifold is still connected to the engine, to prevent warping. Is there anything I need to do to protect the computer while I weld?
Thanks for any/all comments.

i have seen welded one last a while but if u dont have funds i would say cut off and use stock flange ang make ur own 4-1if u have some good welds to lay down i did it a while ago to mine looked sweet and had like 10$ in pipe
Dont weld it in the car.2 many things could go wrong.pull it out and g-clamp it down to a flat benchif warping is a prob. its best to heat it cherry red with a oxy then weld it still hot. Hoffy
i have the same problem, at first i took it off & welded it then put it on - the weld cracked
welded it agian on the car, its hard to get under the bottom
& it still leaks[:@]
