Default A little help from the Honda Pros

Hello, I am new here and this is my first post. Just a couple of trips ago my 97 Civic started making a noise when I turn left. The wheel wants to go back to the right and the sound is a mechanical noise, almost like a grind. We do not drive this car very often but we live where it is cold out right now.

The car has new tires and it just receive an alingment today. After the alignment it is still doing it and my wife is throwing a fit about it. If you have any ideas please let me know. The sound is on the right hand side and it only does it when you turn left. You can feel a vibration in the stearing wheel also.

is it a clunking noise? check the axels/cv joints and all that stuff, i had the same noise and that was my problem. les schwab should check it for free also, if you have one around.

Yep, that would be it, clunking and the responce is pretty much what I thought it would be. Not exactly what I wanted it to be but it could be worse. I will update you guys after I get it all taken care of so the next guy who has the same question can read this.

Thanks,

Chris

If its a CV joint, pull the wheel off and check the boot. If its broken you know what your problem is. The other guys are also correct, a busted CV Joint will cause that noise when you turn.

you'll be fine, just dont run it too hard/take too hard of turns just to make sure.

That was it, they replaced the CV joint and we were on our way. The boot was torn, most likely from my wife driving to her parents whos driveway goes back a half a mile into the woods they own and sticks get all over the place. I know after the last trip there I pulled out some 1 inch thick monsters from the suspension on the other side. Thanks for your guys help and after I get my BMW project car finished up I will be back to start talking motor swaps with you guys.
