High mileage civic
I was looking to buy a civic and came across a really high mileage civic 2005 civic with 190k mileage for $5650. So i did some research and came upon this website. I was wondering if i should take the chance. I know this topic is a retread but the topic was over 5 years ago. The car I saw was so clean you wouldnt believe its more than 100k miles.
What does the Kelly Bluebook or NADA say? I would check the private party & trade-in values & lean towards the wholesale price. That is a lot of miles. Personally I go for lower miles & will pay a little more.
They must have put it on the highway. That is an average of ~27K per year. And I thought I was bad at 20K.
Anyways, ask for maintenance records, schedule an individual mechanic look over (maybe if you have someone who you trust). However, I see no problems with 190K. Also, I would try to get him down on the price, even if the mechanic check comes back clean and he has all the records for it.
