Yea, This guy better not try to pull the same bull**** with the Civic, or I will move on to the next mechanic that doesn't have a stick up their ***.

I can see why everything did fail according to PA, but we don't live in a perfect world.

Finally went ahead and bought the Accord rear hubs/Protege axle nut from rockauto.com. First, I will check the hub depth to make sure it will actually work. If everything looks good, next step will be to re-drill the 4x100 rotors I have to 4x114, and widen the hub bore to 67.1. Last step is to shave 8mm off the hub diameter to allow the rotor to fit around it. Then it's time to do the other side and be done with this bitch.

EDIT:

I found this wheel, and I think I love it.

A tad bit more expensive (+$75), but 350mm instead of 320mm. All black, and mostly urethane, not suede/leather. Thoughts?

Hubs came in last night. I think it is going to take less machining than I originally thought, which is a good thing of course. Going to toss them on the car this weekend to check bearing depth against the spindle length and see how the Protege axle nut works with this set-up.

White high beams should be delivered today and thrown in tonight.

Lastly, I found someone local with a decent looking, used MOMO wheel. If I get it for the right price, that means I was able to pick up the entire set-up within my original budget of $250 Tax refund should be coming through tomorrow, too! woooohoooo!

In other boring news, I was able to successfully swap out the rear assembly from an 98-02 Accord. Swap took me about 2.5 hours for one side. I used an angle grinder to shave down the hubs. Not sure how long they will last, but we will have to see.

Axle nut comparison. Basically the same, but the Protege axle nut just has less threads on it. OEM on the right:

After about 2 hours of grinding - I used my rotor to "test" if the hub was at the correct size.

Rotor on (don't mind the digs it in - stupid screws in the rotors were stuck):

The only thing is that there is no hole for the screws to keep the rotor in place. Good riddance is what I say. I hate those things. Drove the car around on the highway and no problems. Still have to do the other side.

Once the other side gets done, it is time to start focusing on the brakes. rear brakes will be first since I already have most of the parts needed sitting in my apt.

You don't need the screws anyways... Unless your wheel falls off.

But even then, the difference in damage wouldn't be great if the rotor stayed or not. I think.

I like the screws personally lol.

So did you decide on that wheel finally? :P

No decision on the wheel yet. If I buy something brand new, it will probably be the urethane wheel. If it is local and used, it will probably end up being some sort of leather momo or nrg wheel.

I am planning on borrowing my buddies steering wheel puller to remove the current one (it is stuck for some reason). Had someone lined up to sell a wheel to me, but I really don't feel like driving all the way into the city again (did it last night with my son), plus my buddy with the puller is about 20 miles in the complete opposite direction of the city.

Oh and for the screws, I know they are not necessary. I leave them off any car I plan on working on again in the future once I finally get them off. Between my current Civic, my brothers Civic, and my Integra, there are a total of like 2 screws still in place, only because I haven't messed with the tegs front brakes yet.

Got the steering wheel off Monday night. Now comes the fun part, figuring out to make the turn signal click off without half the OEM parts available. I plan on making a bracket, then using JB weld to hold it in place on the hub. We will see what happens I guess.

Still no decision on the wheel. I don't want to spend more than $250 on the entires set-up to be honest. I am at $130 right now with the hub and QR. Trying to find a wheel for no more than $150, the urethane wheel is $190+ :/

Found a wheel within my budget. Lightly used, MOMO Monte Carlo leather wrapped, 350mm. Here is a pic. Trying to decide if I should get silver screws for it, or black. I know it seems petty lol

Also, decided to just order a replacement turn signal cancel cam from Acura rather than rig up something. It was only $10 and should be here next week. Good thing I pass an Acura dealership on my way to work everyday!

I just bought a quick release setup for my car off ht. nrg 2.5 setup with the hub lock too which I really wanted, and a personal grinta. Got it all for 300, I'm going to rock the grinta for now but I plan on getting a personal trophy in suede eventually. And buy an impact driver for those screws, even the hf ones work decently. If used a lot the bits will break but for rare use at home they are fine. But that's what you are supposed to pull the screws with. Or at work I have an attachment for my air hammer that breaks them all free, haven't had those screw me over. Only time is when my bit breaks off in the screw, then pointy chisel goes on air hammer and I force it to turn lol.
