Cvcrcr's project/fix-up thread (version 1.1)
A few little updates........
Finally got around to buying the D series upper alternator relocation bracket from esp.com, OBD0 alternator, and the correct belt. I should not have to worry about hitting my headlight anymore! The bracket will take about a month to come in. Hopefully, I will have everything ready to go with the exception of that in one month.
I have been looking into the K series shifter as many people are using them on H22 swaps. OK, not many people, but a few have been using it with great results. Zero cutting, and the ability to adjust and change literally everything (did I mention no cutting whatsoever?) makes it worth it to me.
Hybrid Racing K Swap Bolt-In Short Shifter
I'll have to call them and pick their brains a little before I jump into something like that though.
Also, I found someone on H-T willing to sell me the uber rare JDM steering column and ignition light (see pic) for a VERY good price. The only thing missing is the relay box for it, but I figure I can wire the lights into my dome light to come on when a door is opened and to stay lit and dim 10 seconds after a door is shut.

I'll either keep it for JDM y0! reasons, or just turn around and sell it for profit.

Received the JDM EK9 steering column light set-up. Member how I said the seller said the relay box was not included? HA
I opened the box, unwrapped everything, and found an entire plug and play harness (or what I think is a PnP harness) and a relay box with a Honda part number on it and a green plug from the harness plugged in it.
Bought this bad boy for $150. The reason it was cheap was because it was incomplete and had a few scratches. The scratches are hardly noticeable and the kit is complete. I am sure I could re-sell for at least $350. Love it.

Well, I hate to post this type of stuff, but I don't think I can continue with this. No time, zero motivation, Hatch (DD) is giving me more problems than I expected. Things aren't going the greatest with my relationship and job, too. My life is becoming a nightmare so to speak. However, I am grateful when I say that although there are things falling apart all around me, everything with my son is A-ok. He is starting Kindergarten at the end of next month and has been in summer camp since the end of May.
I still need to hash things out, hopefully the coupe will still be here in the end, but I have a strong feeling it will not. I plan on setting up a meeting at a local Hyundai dealership for a Genesis coupe. I need something reliable and something that will not eat up my time. Their warranty is really selling me in addition to my love in which the Genesis coupe look etc.
If not in the picture in the future, everything will be parted out and then the shell would be sold to pay car payments.
Someone talk me out of it!

Dude, you've gotta do what you've gotta do. You're a family man. You need a dependable ride. Keep a project car on the side. Two projects might be too much. If you've lost interest and motivation in the car, put it aside for awhile. Get your life straightened out, sell some parts on the side so you can have the cash to work things out. It happens to all of us.

The hatch is being fixed quickly and put up for FS next week most likely in order to get money for a down payment. If I can bear the heat wave (feels like 115°F right now according to weather.com) I will start pulling parts off the coupe. Of course, this is all pending what my insurance quotes me. I am currently looking at a 2011 Genesis Coupe 2.0T base for ~21K or so.
Just running a few numbers, I imagine I can walk with $1k from the hatch. And the following from the coupe. I have more money in it than I thought I guess.
Shell itself - $600 ish
-SI Cluster - $150
-Del Sol Seats (Red striped) - $100
-AEM A/F gauge and wideband - $150
-Autometer Ultra-Lite Oil Temp. gauge - $40
-Autometer Ultra-Lite Oil PSI gauge - $50
-Autometer Ultra-Lite EGT gauge - $50
-Skunk2 **** - $30
-Pioneer AVIC-700BT DD Headunit - $300
-Memphis Audio 6.5" Component Speakers - $50
-Alpine 5 channel amp - $75
-EK9 Steering Column set-up - $250
2. Exterior
-Type-R style front lip - $25
-JDM Stanley sidemarkers - $30
-EK9 power folding mirrors - $200
3. Engine/Drivetrain
-JDM H22a swap - $1200
-Tri-Y 2.5" exhaust manifold - $300
-BDL fuel rail - $60
-Innovative EK/H22 engine mounts - $250
-Hasport H22 (EG/EK) axles - $200
-Blox intake manifold gasket - Will go with motor
-Walbro 255 lph fuel pump - Will go with shell unless I feel like swapping in OEM which I should still have
-Apex-i WS 2 cat-back exhaust - $200
-Mishimoto radiator/cap - $125
-Mishimoto 12" slim fan (pusher) - Will go with radiator
-CC stage 2 clutch - Will go with motor
-Chipped P28 S300 (with OBD2b-OBD1 conversion harness) - $500
4. Suspension
-C8 20-way Adj. Coilovers - $350, or might go with shell
-Blox Rear Camber Kit - Might go with shell
-Skunk2 Rear LCAs - I wish I didnt throw the Blox ones out - This might go with the shell
-ASR 24mm rear sway bar - $300
-ASR rear subframe brace - Will go with bar
-ASR spherical endlinks - Will go with brace/bar
-Rear disc conversion T arms and cables - $75
Again, quick numbers, it adds up to about $6.6K, not including any money I have in my car fund. Now THAT would be a nice down payment I would imagine. It looks and sounds good on paper, but we all know that selling **** on forums and CL, it never sells as fast as you would like.
I mean those are nice but thats pricey for a base model ??? Honestly I like the Kia Forte's better (prolly cause they remind me of the Civics lol). They're roomier and cheaper. Might be a lot slower but practicality wise they get a lot of points with me. The only downside is the badge it wears :/
Goodluck in your near future man!

Hmm well if you part I may have to get some things off you. I reallllly want that h22 for when I get an eg if my car ever sells. Especially if it is lsd...
But in all seriousness, just think your stuff through and do what is best for the future, if getting the Genesis is going to make you happy and you'll stay financially stable while paying for it go for it and down the line pick up another project. But don't sell all this and regret it, just think it through.
