Danomatic's Update Thread: Modifying the EJ1
Still no clue. Maybe EX's had nicer rear seats? Looks like you have a DX so maybe it was a model difference. What do yours look like? Pics?
How much would you charge me if I supplied the LS cluster? J/w.... I read the DIY you made on it and it looks really clean!
I was on the highway to go to Baraboo, WI (2.5 Hour Drive) at 8 am yesterday and my alternator blew. Pulled over of the side of the highway, I popped my hood and saw the 80 amp battery fuse brown too. At this point I figured the alternator had a ground fault which popped the fuse. So, we called for a lift back to the house.
We drove to the parts store and picked up an alternator and a 80 amp fuse. Then drove back to the car. I unplugged the big alternator plug but neglected to unplug the ground. Fail. We plugged in the fuse and the magic electronic smoke came out. Damn. I wanted to drive the car back to the house without the alternator so I wouldn't have to tow it.
Well, we went back to the house and picked up some rope. We drove back to the car and towed it back home. That tow hook works great!!

We got in the garage and jacked it up and started work. The only bolt that gave up any guff was the alternator pivot bolt. But, it was no match for an air hammer (I <3 Air Tools). We threw on the new alternator but is was too wide to fit on the bracket. We filled it down a little and it fit like a glove.

Original 250k (a quarter million!) mile alternator:

After buttoning it all back up, and a third 80 amp fuse later, we started it and let it run for a bit, charged the battery. Then we drove up the Baraboo, WI and picked up a Z6...
Half way up there, in Dekorra, I got pulled over for "Amplified Exhaust" and "Excessive Tint." Thankfully he let me off with a warning. Then we continued on the drive up the Baraboo, WI and picked up a Z6 and clutch...
