I figured as much. No hurt in asking I guess. No one around my area has one... at least that I know of.

Eh, about $35 is what I would guess

Sending a Z6 head from FL to NY costs about $27. I wouldn't expect much more for a block

OIL PUMP IS OFF.

MAIN CAP IS OFF.

...burnt oil STINKS. Rotating assembly is next. This engine has been fighting me the whole way.

Okay. Some serious questions now that the cap is off. There are some things that are strange to me about the cap. There are two places that look like they've been milled. And they're also marked "1" and "20".

On the one marked "1", there's an extra piece of metal where there isn't on the rest of the crank.

Also, there are some numbers on the rods. I would think they'd be numbered 1,2,3,4. But they're instead numbered "3, 3, 3, 4". Is this normal?

Otherwise, I guess it looks okay.

What do you guys think? At this point many of you know more than me. If not, everyone else is along for the ride and gets to learn a thing or two as well.

That 'extra piece' is supposed to be there. It's called the thrust bearing.

The numbers are indicators for the bearing sizes if I remember correctly. I highly recommend picking up or downloading the shop manual.

OH! THAT's the thrust bearing.

Got the manual already. Just haven't referenced it yet.

Nontraditional use #14 for an engine block: Beer holder

That is all.

FINALLY. SOMETHING REAL TO UPDATE ABOUT.

I've got a machined head, it's better than the rest.

Looks like I need to get some money and buy the ARP headstuds.

Dude, I seriously lack the funds for this too. It's like that Johnny Cash song, "one piece at a time."

And this thing is starting to look like an engine. I really need to flesh that intake manifold out. It was stripped bare when I found it.
