Happened to a friend with a jdm f20, couldn't reverse, happened towards the end of the summer so he just parked it for the year. This winter he's spent a few 1000 building the engine, probably make 400+.

never heard about h22 bent shift fork problems. always hear about them with d16z6 trannies tho, because they are aluminum. The H22 ones aluminum too?
Honestly, I have no idea.

Yea, I don't understand what happened. Worked perfectly fine yesterday morning, no noises, grinds, nothing. Left work and just cannot get it into gear. Again, no noises, grinding etc The shifter just refuses to move into the reverse position.

I now need to figure out if it is even worth fixing and replacing the transmission on this thing.... or part it out and be done with it all. It would be depressing to be done seeing the amount of work I have put into it over the past 5 years or so.

Found a guy local that has a P2A5 (basically the same as I have now, but a slightly different FD for better economy) and who can help me get the proper axles since he has a H22 swapped EK and had the same problems before. Maybe this binding issue is finally going to get fixed?

Also, he has front spindles (good joints/bearings) with ARP extended studs installed (comes with brake calipers, too) for $100. I think that is a pretty good deal seeing as I am probably destroying my bearings with this current axle bind ****.

When is this just going to end so I can simply drive the car as a DD and not have to deal with annoyances like what I have been dealing with?!?!?! lol This is starting to get ridiculous IMO. It is literally one thing after another for the past 4 months.

Well luckily I just my taxes back last week, otherwise this wouldn't be happening right now. I plan on picking up that transmission and getting it installed this week at a shop that my company works with. Looking at ~$700 total (parts and labor) in the end. I do not have time to deal with a transmission swap unfortunately. The place I take the car for inspection will do the swap for me I believe. I need an inspection anyways btw so it kind of works out. 2 birds with one stone.

Car may be slightly slower in terms of whp and wtq, but much better for fuel economy with this new trans. I am ready to get a better mpgs than 24.5 :/

Man, I've read about people only getting about 25-27 mpg's with H22's. I guess its more common than I thought. That makes me really sad.

Yea, I went to pick up the transmission from the guy and he was extremely helpful. We ended up chatting for about 30 or so minutes before we realized how much time got away from us. He actually helped me out a lot with my axle issue and told me exactly what to do to get rid of the problem since he apparently had the same problem or w/e.

Ended up getting the transmission and spindles off of him for $350 total. Car is scheduled to go into the shop on Thursday for the swap and inspection. The front spindles are 100% complete with brand new EBC green stuff pads, and ARPs already installed I bought them since I am sure from driving around the past 4-5 months with this axle/vibration issue the life of the wheel bearings has been cut down.

The spindles will not be installed until I get the trans swapped, the new axles in and I confirm there are no more issues.

Lastly, I had my credit card burning in my wallet this weekend so I bought some LEDs from superbrightleds.com. Bought the front and rear dome lights, trunk dome light, and the license plate lights (all in "cool white" = 6k) for ~$35 shipped. We'll see how they turn out.

I've been considering getting some LED's from there as well...you should maybe do a DIY on installing them? Why in the hell did Honda make the dome light so dim in these cars? lol, its ridiculous.

Glad to hear you're getting the binding issue taken care of. Care to elaborate a little more on how you're fixing it? Just out of curiosity.

93 Integra Axles with an Accord 1/2 shaft. I already have the 1/2 shaft since it came with one from an accord. That is sitting in my garage. Autozone lifetime warranty axles should be exactly what I need according to this guy I met up with. He said that on the passenger side I need to open up the C-clip with a pair of needle nose pliers. Installation may be a little harder on that side, but it will ensure that the axle wont pop out.

I plan on selling the spare set of Hasports I have for $150 and using that to buy Autozone axles in the near future. If anyone is interested. I guarantee I am having all of these problems since my car was hit a few times in the front and threw off the geometry a little bit. With a H-swapped EK, there is little room for error apparently.

I am hoping that this trans swap isn't going to be too expensive! They quoted me like 5 hours of work, but that is for a stock D series Civic. The shop owner I talked to today said that it might be longer since the motor may need to be lowered out of the car to make for enough room. *bites fingernails

I could potentially be interested in those hasports but I'm still learning about this car. Don't suppose those'd fit my 97 DX?
