Cvcrcr's project/fix-up thread (version 1.1)
Did nothing this weekend to the car except giving it a nice wash (first time in at least a year I washed it), and cleaned out the interior.
Unfortunately, the guy who sold me the spindles and transmission texted me talking about the hub size on the spindles he gave me. Sure enough, they don't match. They are 36mm hubs (I currently have 32mm). He says if I can drive back up, he will refund me. I might just take the brake calipers off them and try to sell them cheap on my local CL.

What wheels would you guys choose if you had my car?
Rota boosts (black) with 205/50/15 (80% life left), or
Rota grids (black) with 195/50/15 (2k miles on the tires).
Both wheels have kuhmo ecsta's on them. The rota boosts are almost like buddy club p1 knock offs if you do not know what they look like. The grids are Volk TE-37 knock offs. The grids are ~$100 more than the boosts, but come with center caps (not that center caps are a deal breaker, just saying)

Well the Grids guy is asking 600, but the boost guy is asking 400. If I can get the grids down to 500, I'll go for those instead. He needs to email me back ASAP since the boost guy is texting me his address already! haha
Get the boosts, much better. I only like the grids when they are low offset, I think thu are grids spec v or something for the low offset ones. Boosts are cheaper, look better, and wider tires, will help with traction. You aren't low enough that tire size poses a problem. I had to stretch the 195s on my 15x8 otherwise I couldn't tuck half the tire like I do, I had 205s that I tried out on the sans but the tire was too wide. Make sure it's a quality tire on them though, cheap $65 each tire suck, I only have cheapies on the sans since they are the wheels I run for looks, going to get a functional set of wheels with good tires too.
Right now, I am not low enough, but hopefully, the new axle set-up I want to run will allow my to get rid of the binding and go lower, like it was before.
I see what you are saying scott. I think the lower offset ones are grid off roads, or spec v. I think there are a few different versions out by now. I am not necessarily worried about the tire quality. Anything is better than what I have now (some no name junk). At least these will be name brand. They popular in my area as a cheap tire that is decent I believe.
Grid guy will not budge on the price, so it looks like I am going for the boosts tonight. I'll post up pics when I get them on.

Teaser pic! The other two are in my trunk. Minor rash on one wheel (you can see it in the pic), and a few light scratches on the others. Tires look to be in great condition. I plan on touching up the rash and other scratches with some black paint when I get a chance.

Didn't get home until about 2am last night so no installed pics. They are still in the back of my car actually! Drove back up to Allentown (wheels were on the way) and the guy refunded me for the spindles, so I am happy that those are out of the garage now, too. Never had a CL seller actually insist on taking them back since he forgot to tell me everything about them when he sold them. Good stuff.
Wasn't paying attention and grinded into 3rd during lunch break today. Reverse stopped working for a short time, but I think I managed to work it back in again after I returned to work.
EDIT - I do not have much experience with Rotas, or aftermarket wheels in general. Does anyone know if Honda/Acura center caps will fit on them? If so, I will paint a set black to match. My only other wheels I have played with were the BBS's (off a VW I believe) which had Honda center caps forced in there and partially broken (lol), and the GSR blades, which came with the OEM Acura center caps.
